The device is designed for measuring the load exerted by wheelsets of rail vehicles on the rail. It is usually used in repair plants and during rolling stock exploitation.

After a repair in a repair plant is completed, the measurements of wheels load on rail are conducted, and it's possible to adjust a wheelset suspension on the basis of the obtained measurements. During exploitation, the device is used to verify the load distribution in wagons, maximum wheels load exerted on the rail, load or wagon weighting. The main advantage is that it can be installed on any levelled track segment.
